
Pituitary Diseases Clinic
Staffed by two OHSU Neuroendocrinologists (pituitary disease specialists),
this clinic is designed to provide comprehensive, streamlined care
for patients with pituitary abnormalities, including pituitary tumors
and pituitary hormone problems. The Pituitary Diseases Clinic is
part of the OHSU Pituitary Unit which coordinates the many pituitary
disease resources available at OHSU.
Services Offered
- Treatment of functional tumors (prolactinomas, Cushing`s disease and acromegaly).
- Treatment of nonfunctional lesions (adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, meningiomas, gliomas, chordomas, Rathke's cleft cysts,etc.).
- Treatment of pituitary hormone deficiencies affecting the thyroid, the adrenal glands, water balance, reproductive organs, and growth hormone (GH) secretion.
- Patients will be thoroughly evaluated for pituitary hormone abnormalities by a pituitary diseases expert (neuroendocrinologist).
- When appropriate, patients will be evaluated by a neurosurgeon expert in pituitary tumor resection using state-of-the-art "real time" intraoperative MRI.
- On the same clinic day, patients may also be evaluated by Neuroradiology (MRI scan), Neuro-Ophthalmology (visual field testing), and Neuroendocrine Testing (adrenal function testing).
- Other specialties including Interventional Neuroradiology, Neuropsychology, Radiation-Oncology and Neuropathology are readily accessible when necessary.
